Airplane, car accidents strike McKinney

Two accidents struck McKinney on Friday: one by land and one by air.
An airplane skidded off the runway at Collin County Regional Airport and a Nissan Maxima rear-ended a Ford Expedition, sending the Maxima's driver to the hospital, within the span of two hours Friday afternoon.
The airplane accident occurred around 3 p.m. at the airport. Chris Rozansky, CCRA operations manager, said the two pilots were attempting some training maneuvers at the time of the accident in a Cessna 320 single twin engine airplane.
The plane's right main landing gear collapsed upon landing and caused the plane to skid off the runway and into a ditch. Rozansky said neither pilot sustained any injuries from the accident.
He also said airport officials closed the runway for most of the afternoon so McKinney fire and streets crews and Federal Aviation Administration officials could remove the airplane, and inspect the scene. Rozansky did not know the identity of the pilots.
Then a vehicle accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and Meadow Glen Drive.
McKinney police officers at the scene said a Ford Expedition stopped on the eastbound side of Eldorado Parkway for a school bus when a Nissan Maxima crashed into it.
The Maxima hit the Expedition head on and hard enough to deploy its air bags, which an officer at the scene said is what injured the driver.
Todd Bosely, a resident of Glen Hollow Drive, said he was in his kitchen when he heard “tires Š then a large thud and breaking glass.”
He said he peered over his backyard fence and saw several people helping the injured woman out of her car.
“She didn't look too good,” Bosely said. “I couldn't see blood, but it looked like she passed out.”
The driver of the Maxima was transported by ambulance to Medical Center of McKinney. Police could not release the victim's name, so her condition could not be obtained from the hospital.
