A Plano man was indicted July 19 for improper photography or visual recording after he allegedly made a nude visual recording of his stepdaughter and another underage girl with a wireless camera hidden in the girl’s bathroom wall, according to police and court documents.
Arrest warrants for Eric Carlyle Russell, 37, of Plano were issued on May 4 and May 10 for two charges of improper photography or visual recording, according to police. Russell posted $10,000 bail on May 7 and May 16 for both charges.
A source close to the investigation said the camera was found in a bathroom wall above the toilet by a family member who then called police on Jan 4.
Police sent computers owned by Russell and found in his home at 2308 Chamberlain Drive in Plano to the North Texas Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory, according to probable cause affidavits.
Analysis of the computers found numerous nude visual recordings of Russell’s stepdaughter and her friend in the bathroom, the documents state.
“(Russell) was indicted because of the information received from the reporting person and information received from the forensic investigation,” said Officer Rick McDonald, a spokesperson for the Plano Police Department.
Russell told his wife that he put the camera in the bathroom after police took the recording devices in January, the documents state.
If convicted Russell could face 180 days to two years in state jail and up to a $10,000 fine for each felony offense, McDonald said.
