Angelo Antoline was named the new marketing and communications chair for the Dallas Ad League. Along with managing his own company, he joins the elite Dallas ad industry.

Antoline is president and creative director of mundayMorning, a full service and graphic design agency located in Dallas. He brings in new accounts, supervises ad campaigns, makes sure clients are taken care of and more. His business emphasizes personal initiatives with clients to ensure a better working environment and better creative results.

Antoline said mundayMorning was asked to do an ad campaign for the ad league’s 100th anniversary, which was celebrated Tuesday at the Hilton Anatole. The league was impressed with his work and Michael Tuggle, the league’s current vice president and next year’s president, nominated Antoline in mid-May.

As the MarCom chair, he would be in charge of designing and communicating to the ad league about certain events and be responsible for seeing and approving what goes out to the public and much more.

“It’s a tremendous high-five,” Antoline said.

However, his new chair position is not the only honor he has received. He is also co-chair for the McSam Committee which is involved in the Homebuilders Association of Greater Dallas. It is one of the largest homebuilding associations in the country.

For the last two years, he was recognized for an Eagle Award which goes to the top five creative directors in Dallas. Peers nominate and honor advertising professionals in the industry where there are about 1,000 creative directors in the Dallas ad industry alone.

Antoline was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. He moved to Texas in 1990, where he attended high school in Houston. He said he always knew he wanted to do something in art, so he went to the University of North Texas because it had a good art program. However, he had to decide what career he wanted to use his artistic talents toward.

“I knew I wouldn’t make any money painting,” Antoline said. “I took ad classes because I had to, but I liked it, and I was good at it. I learned quickly that I was good at doing something that the masses liked, not just for a couple of people.”

He graduated from UNT with a bachelor of fine arts in communication design. Antoline went to work for an ad company where he would find a turning point in his life. He pitched an ad campaign for a mortgage company. At the time, the mortgage company representatives were not pleased with the agency, but it was impressed with Antoline. He said they asked to meet with them.

“I thought they wanted me to do some things on the side,” Antoline said.

He was surprised when they asked him if he was interested in starting his own company. They offered to provide him a loan and be his first clients.

“I wasn’t planning on starting my own business,” Antoline said.

At first, Antoline was unsure but, at 26, he decided to take the risk. Within eight months, he had four employees. Now, the group has 14 individuals who serve the clients’ direct needs.

“I always wondered what would have happened if I hadn’t taken the offer,” Antoline said.

Antoline said one of the reasons his business stands out and is successful is due to a more personal approach with the client.

“It’s not just business; it’s personal,” Antoline said. “I want to know the personal side of my clients.”

Creative agents in his group have a strong, commitment to each client.

“We would like to know your wife, husband, dog, cat and goldfish's name, where you get your hair cut and your oil changed, and you are more than welcome to ask the same of us,” Antoline said.

He said most creative agents do not go further than the simple greeting.

“It’s typical for creative directors to be there for the few meetings [with clients] but then disappear,” Antoline said. “We do not have that typical approach.”

Antoline’s passion for creative solutions can be found in the company’s name, mundayMorning.

“I couldn’t wait for Monday mornings to get to work,” Antoine said.

He also said new individuals who want to be successful in advertising should have that kind of incentive and drive.

“It’s not an eight to five job,” Antoine said. “You can get a paycheck, but you won’t be successful.”

He said an individual needs to be passionate about creating and working with people. He or she also needs to find a niche in whatever field that he or she is working in.

“If you could find something that you’re really good at, then people will keep asking you to do it,” he said.

Antoline lives in Coppell with his wife, Shelby, and their three children; Briella, 6; Nico, 3; and Dominic, 1.
