" What a senseless crime. I feel so bad for his parents. I'm very worried about the direction of Plano. If the city actually reported crime statistics to the public, we'd probably see a huge increase in the number of murders this year over last year. "

They do make public the statistics and it is happening everywhere, not just Plano "

" This guy was out after being charged with a felony in Frisco!!!!! He had a history, yet was free to threaten and eventually kill this nice young man in Plano. Max's family didn't press charges this summer when threatening messages were left on Max's cell phone. They now say Plano PD didn't pay enough attention. It's a tragedy overall. The girl (Max's former girlfriend) was dating this bad character -- I'm sure she feels terrible now. Let's not judge but hope that those who are still alive can learn from this...And we've lost someone who would have contributed to society in ways the killer never will. "

" The national homicide rate is down in 2008, not up, so it is not happening everywhere. It's not happening in Frisco, Allen, McKinney, three cities that do not have a deficit that required the cutting of police officer positions, like Plano did.

I found the stats online. We are up 100% as of August. "

" Plano Police only are good at writing tickets out to teenagers for rediculous reasons. They wont be commisioned for taking hate crimes serious. Plano Police need to act now before things really get out of hand. Its time for curfews! "

" Homicides have been reported in Frisco, Allen and McKinney, so contrary to a prevous comment it IS happening everywhere! The crime stats for Plano are concerning, but thankfully we can find info on websites such as www.crimereports.com and other sites -- Plano PD doesn't report much on the city's official website under Crime Bulletins. Things ARE changing in Plano and cutting police positions, whether "occupied" or not, sent the wrong message to the community and potential perps. The Willow Bend contingent on City Council is looking the other way. "
Frisco wrote on Oct 16, 2008 10:44 AM:
" Frisco had 1 homicide last year. Plano had 3 last year. Plano was at 6 in August this year, 7 with this one if it's the only one between August and October (wasn't there a cab driver killed by a guy who took DART?)

The point you are missing is there is a bigger INCREASE as a PERCENTAGE in Plano. "
